The second best location for a toilet is the North-East part and not the North-East corner, and the South-West part leaving the South-West corner, you are now ready for the second step in making a vastu compliant toilet.

                                 Vaastu Shastra

"For every dark night, there is a brighter day..."
In the previous blog it was mentioned about the vaastu shastra of Dining Room and Bedroom. Now continuing with next aspects of the house i.e. Living Room and Pooja Room.

Building Living room according to Vastu

The living room is not only the place where the family usually gather together, it is also the area where the other people come into the house. This area is powerful because it can draw a lot of outside attention to the house. However, the energy carried by the outsiders would also enter your house, so you have to make sure that you are doing all you can to draw only on their positive spirits. Here are some good concepts related to Vastu for living room:
  1. Seating: When sitting in the living room, the owner of the house has to face either the north or the east. The other members of the house, or the people who have come to visit should sit opposite to or beside the owner.
  2. The north- east face: The east and the north face of the house are of high quality. They can attract good vibrations from this (north-east) corner. Having the living room in the north- east would make sure that people are more harmonious and there is less discord in the house.
  3. Telephone: House construction in Vastu considers the south to be the direction of fire, so this is the direction where all the electronics have to be kept. If you put your telephones, TVs, etc. in the south- west direction, it will definitely be beneficial for you.
  4. Flooring: In Vastu for living room, it is considered better for the living room to be at a lower level than the rest of the house, since it can provide a good sense to the rest of the family, when compared to the guests, especially.
  5. Doors: The doors in the living room are not restricted by numbers; they are restricted by the places where they can be kept. You can keep your door in the northern direction of your house, for this is the direction that has all the magnetic control. This is what will help people to be attracted towards your house- a huge benefit for you!
  6. Front facing living rooms: If the living rooms are front facing, the north should be the most important direction, for this is the direction that would get the maximum benefits. However, the west or south facing houses will not work the same way. The latter two houses have to make sure that the living room is not a front room, but a side one or a back one.
  7. Making decisions here: One always has to be careful while sitting in the living room and discussing important things- about business or personal matters. When you are discussing such matters, you have to make sure that you are facing the north or the east. And the guests should face the south or the west. This is the seating arrangement that would certainly lead people into success.

Moving on to Vastu Shastra for Pooja Room.

Follow the below mentioned attributes in order to get an ideal Puja room:

  • Never locate the Puja room in the south and the south-east, as these directions are ruled by Yama and Agni, respectively.
  • Never locate the Puja space in the bedroom, as this place is for rest and pleasure. However if there is no choice, locate it in the north-east corner of the room. Take care that your feet do not point towards this corner while lying on the bed.
  • Avoid locating the toilet above, below or opposite to this room to prevent the negative energies of the toilet from spoiling the auspicious atmosphere of the Puja room.
  • This room should also not be constructed next to the kitchen or located under a staircase. In case you do make the Puja space in the kitchen, keep the deity in such a way that you face east while praying.
  • In very big plots, factories or apartments, the prayer room can be located in the centre or the Brahmasthana, the sector governed by Lord Brahma, the Creator.
  • Make the roof of the Puja room dome or pyramid-shaped. This facilitates smooth flow of positive energies from the tip to the dome or pyramid into the puja room. This shape also assists in meditation.
  • Use tranquil colours on the walls of the Puja room like white, soft shades of yellow, blue or violet. These colours do not distract while praying.
  • Ideally, the doors and windows of this room should open towards the east or north. These should be made of good quality wood and have double shutters.
  • Although north-east is generally the direction recommended for locating the idols or pictures of various Gods; yet different deities have different auspicious locations as described:
    • Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh, Kartikeya, Indra and Surya are placed in the east and facing towards west.
    • Ganesh, Durga, Kuber, Shodas Matrika and Bhairav in the north direction and facing south.
    • Hanuman in the north-east facing south-west, but never in the south-east as it creates fire hazard.
  • Never keep idols brought from ancient temples in the puja room. Also avoid Shrichakra and Shaligram idols, unless you have tremendous spiritual control and are capable of performing puja in a traditional manner.
  • Never display photographs of the dead family members along with the deities.
  • The height of idols should not be more than 18 inches and should always be placed on a high platform or singhasan.
  • Keep the holy books or dharmic granths and other items of samagri and dresses of the deities along the west and south wall.
  • The lamp or deepak should be placed in the south-east direction, governed by Agni.
  • The Puja room should not be used for other purposes, like storing items that do not belong here. It should also not be used for sleeping purposes or to conceal money and other valuables.
  • Never keep a dustbin in the Puja room, as the positive energy gets diminished due to the negative energies emitted by it.

                                               VAASTU SHASTRA

double up your health, happiness and abundance...
The previos blog was about the origin of the "Vastu Shastra".we also read that how vastu shastra is not a myth and is a science of keeping a property well organised. In this current blog I am explaining in detail how to design a house according to accurate vastu shastra.
Starting with Bedroom:
The Vastu plays a major role in placement and designing of the master bedroom. The way you sleep with your head in different direction and your placement of bed is a major decision which must be taken properly with utmost care. Here are some basic points one must adhere to get peace and prosperity in your bedroom.
  • Vastu for Bedroom

    • The master bedroom should always be located in the Southwest part of the house as Southwest represents the elementEarth which implies the heaviness, which makes it as the ideal place for the master of the house.
    • A great deal of attention should be paid to bedrooms in a house. One should sleep with head towards SouthEast or West and never in north.
    • There should not be any beam crossing over the bed. If it exists, proper rectification should be done immediately otherwise the health will be affected.
    • The bed placed should be on the South/West walls and if not there, it should be kept at least 4” away from the walls.
    • The heavy almirah(cupboard) should be on the South/west wall.
    • The construction material for the bed should be the wood and the wrought iron beds should be avoided.
    • All the electronic gadgets should be placed at a distance from the bed as the Electro- magnetic waves emitted by them interferes with the sleep.
    • There should not be any mirror in front of the bed.
    • The shape of the bed should be regular and any irregular shape should be avoided.
    • The bed should never be placed in front of the bedroom door.
    • The mattress used on the double bed should be a single one.
    • The door of the bedroom should never produce the creaking noise.
    • The colour scheme for the bedroom in Southwest direction should be in any earthy tone like browns, shades of almond, all families of earthen colour.

You can take this image as an illustration.

Next we talk about  Dinning room, one of the favourite room amongst all.

    • Vastu tips for Dining Room
    • The dining hall should be placed in West corner, as the setting rays will kill all the harmful bacteria present in the stored food.
    • The dining can also be made in the East direction of the house, as the morning sunrays are very good for the health.
    • The dining table should be perfect square/rectangle.
    • Dining table should not be sticking to the wall.
    • If you want to place a fridge in the dining room, it should be in southeast direction.
    • While eating the members should face the east, north.
    • The wash basin should be in Northeast side of the room.
    • The main door of the house and of the Dining Room should not face each other.
    • The dining should not be adjacent to toilet.
    • The door of Pooja room/toilet should not open in front of dining area.
    • If console has to be placed near dining for storage of crockery and utensils, it should be on South/West wall of that area.

    • Thats all for the day I will continue writing about other aspects of house in my next blog till then stay tuned.

                                                          Vaastu Shastra
apperance does not necessarily reflect reality...
These days many have started consulting vastu specialists while building a house. This trend has started recently. Vastu is a science and our forefathers, where using this science to find whether a place is good for living or not. Many factors are taken into consideration while checking vastu. It is nothing but checking whether the place where we are going to build a house will bring peace and glory. There are spaces which are not good for living, though we are not able to find its negativity with our naked eyes.A vastu specialist will check the overall alignment of the space, including the water supply to the region and the direction from which sunlight is falling on it. Many have experienced good and bad situations by checking the vastu. Sometimes small alterations in the existing construction are able to make big changes in the life of people. Those who are planning to build a house can consult with a vastu consultant in mysore.

There are two things in life, negative and positive. How can one stay positive? Either they should know to be positive or they should eliminate the negatives so the positive automatically starts building up! This is the basic science behind the Vasthu Sashtra. In India, almost every builder or construction company follows the rule of vastu shastra for bedroom, kitchen, hall and especially Pooja room according to Vasthu. This enhances the life of those living in the house.certain tips for the betterment of the house:
    1. Anything heavy, say a sofa, cupboard or even a TV has to be removed if it is in front of your main door or the entrance door.
    2. North East and North West are ideal for keeping windows. Air has to enter from those directions.
    3. Any patient in your house has to sleep in South-North direction. Ask them to do so immediately.
    4. Never have a bed beneath a beam. Beam is something that holds the weight of the upper portion of the house. Sleeping under it, cause unnecessary disturbance and mind restlessness.
    5. Repair any door that is noisy.
    6. Avoid houses in basements. They are the ones that attract maximum negative energy!

Rigveda,Atharvaveda, Ramaya, Mahabharatha and  many other important epics of India has mentioned vastu’s importance in many situations. In Mahabharat all the palaces and other building of kings were built on vastu for Home. Those ancient works still remain as the great and magnificent examples of fine architecture and craftsmanship. Those palaces and gardens and swimming pools are still preserved as treasures as we are not able to make one such in the present world without losing its charm and attraction.Vastu works mainly on three principals. First one is Bhagadayam. This works by checking the overall design of the premise. In this the vatu specialist will check the building quality of the premise.

For a balance in life, it is important to properly follow these above tips. You can also plant a lot of trees if you are living in independent house. This gives sufficient air circulation in the house. This itself is one of the sign that the negative energy is fading away!
